Understanding the Lights
One red light = Low Battery
If you see a single red dot on the reader, that means your device is getting power but needs to charge. Just plug it in and leave it alone for at least 30 minutes before trying to pair or use it again.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Use a Wall Outlet
Plug your reader directly into a wall outlet, not a computer or a power strip. Some power strips may not deliver enough consistent power.Check the Plug Connection
Ensure the charging cable is firmly inserted. If you see any silver metal showing or the plug doesn’t sit flush with the reader, it may not be connected properly. Unplug and firmly plug it back inGive It Time
If there’s still no light, leave the reader plugged in for 1 hour to allow it to charge. Avoid using it during this time.
How to Verify Your Reader is Charging
On your kiosk:
Tap the three-line menu
Go to Manage Reader
Look under “Battery” — if you see a lightning bolt, your reader is receiving power.
Why This Happens
The EMV puck is frequently handled and may get jostled throughout the day. Sometimes the charging cord can get slightly unplugged without you realizing it. To avoid issues, we recommend leaving the puck plugged in overnight so it’s ready for a full day of use.
