Troubleshooting tips for the Square Reader

  1. Confirm the reader is plugged into the wall outlet - be sure it's getting power

  2. From the iPad Settings click 'bluetooth'>blue 'i'> forget all devices that appear

  3. Begin by force closing the Tippy Pro App

  4. From the Tippy app click the three lines in the top left corner>'connect reader'> 'connect a reader' >follow the prompts on the iPad

  5. Once it’s paired you can see if the reader is changing or in need of a firmware update.

  6. Initiate a test transaction double checking the last screen says 'Tap, insert to pay'

Pro Tip: If there is an orange/yellow bar at the top of the pay screen that means the EMV reader is doing an update. PLEASE leave the square screen open until it's complete
