My Square Reader Isn't Working (Black Tippy Kiosk)

Troubleshooting tips for the Square Reader

  1. Confirm the reader is plugged into the wall outlet - be sure it's getting power

  2. From the iPad Settings click 'bluetooth'>blue 'i'> forget all devices that appear

  3. Turn the bluetooth off

  4. Restart the iPad

  5. Turn the bluetooth on

  6. From the Tippy app click the three lines in the top left corner>'manage readers'> 'manage old reader' > 'connect a reader' >follow the prompts on the iPad *** If your reader is already there click it and double click 'forget this reader'***

  7. Once it’s paired you can see if the reader is changing or in need of a firmware update.

  8. Initiate a test transaction double checking the last screen says 'Tap, insert to pay'

Pro Tip: If there is an orange/yellow bar at the top of the pay screen that means the EMV reader is doing an update. PLEASE leave the square screen open until it's complete
