Lets try this:
1. Ensure your device is charged. To do so, tap the button on the side of the EMV reader (may need to lift it out of the base) and confirm at least 1 green light turns on. Also confirm that you can see the serial number(begins with 3) and a barcode on the back of the EMV Reader. If you do not see this sticker, and see a black metal plate instead, remove this plate and discard it.
The device will need to be charged for at least 30 minutes if it is fully dead. Leave the device out of the base for now.
2. Force close the Tippy app-swipe up and close the apps
3. Open the iPad Settings (gray gear app) > Bluetooth > if you see any device with a blue 'i', tap it, then select 'forget this device'. Do this for all devices no matter the connected status
4. Navigate to Wifi Settings > toggle Wifi "Off"
5. Time to reset your reader! Grab your EMV Reader and hold the button on the side for approximately 45 seconds. You will hear a single loud beep to let you know it has been reset. If you hear a series of 'clicking' sounds (these are the power on/power off sounds), you can keep holding, as the reset is still occurring. Once you hear one loud beep, release your finger, the reader is reset, and you can set it aside.
6. Once the reader is reset, toggle Wifi "On" and ensure it connects to your network.
7. Open the Tippy app and log in using your Company Code if necessary.
8. Select the 3 line menu in the left corner > Manage Reader > Connect NEW reader (you may not see this screen if you've successfully paired before) > Pair Reader > select the device under 'Nearby Devices' (if you have multiple kiosks in your location, ensure the serial number you select on the iPad matches the serial of the device you wish to pair) > Follow the prompts on screen to pair9. Once your device is paired, do a test transaction to ensure you are prompted to 'insert, tap, or swipe to pay'.
Your reader is paired and ready for tips!
