Setting up Standalone Kiosk

Step-by-step guide for setting up your Tippy Standalone Kiosk

Updated this week

1. Unbox Your Tippy Kit
Confirm you have received all equipment:

  • iPad in a black stand

  • Square EMV Reader

  • Power blocks and cables

2. Power On the Kiosk
Plug the iPad (in the black stand) into a direct power source and turn it on.

3. Connect to Wi-Fi
Connect the iPad to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
Tip: We recommend using a private network with minimal traffic.

4. Open the Tippy Pro App

  • Locate the Tippy Pro App (purple “T” icon) on the home screen

  • Swipe through the introductory screens

5. Enter Your Company Code

6. Select Your Business Location
If your company has multiple locations, choose the one where this kiosk will be used.

7. Send a Security Code

  • Select an approved user to receive the login code via text or email
Note: If only the owner is registered, they will be the only available option.

Important:
If no users appear, the owner must first log in to the Tippy Dashboard to verify their email and phone number: https://dashboard.meettippy.com

8. Enter the Security Code
Once received, enter the security code to proceed.

9. Pair the Square EMV Reader

  • Tap the Menu icon (three stacked lines) in the top left corner

  • Select “Manage Reader”, then choose “Manage Old Reader”
Note: Please disregard any “Reader Update Required” message—this is part of internal testing.

  • A white popup titled “Square Readers” will appear. Tap “Connect a Reader”

  • On the Square Reader, press and hold the pairing button until the lights flash orange, then release

  • Place the reader near the iPad

10. Confirm Pairing

  • The iPad will prompt you to pair — tap “Pair” to continue

  • The reader will flash green to confirm successful pairing

  • The iPad will display a status screen with “Contactless and Chip” at the top

  • Allow the reader to update if prompted. When complete, the status should read “Ready”
