Happy Summer Tippy Fam!

We are reaching out today as our long awaited Send Funds (also previously referred to as “Split Tips”) feature has been released and we know you and your teams are eager to dive in and give it a try.

Our Send Funds Feature is great for teams who have assistants, shampoo techs or other front of the house staff that may otherwise miss out on gratuities. This will allow you and your team to Send Funds directly from their Tippy accounts to another Tippy along with having the functionality of Branch!

This feature has been designed exclusively for sharing tips with assistants or other staff members that may not be a part of the tip check out process - we do not recommend this feature be used as a replacement for “Venmo” or “Cash App” transfers as all these Send Funds transactions are recorded as income on the individual receiving the gratuity.

Branch Users: To Activate (Be sure to be on the most up to date version of Tippy in your app store!)

  • Open Tippy App

  • Tap on “Profile” in top left hand corner

  • Select “Wallet” - tap on “Enable Transfer” toggle to activate Transfers

Users must let funds accumulate before sending - if there are no funds in their account to be sent when you navigate to the “Send Funds” area - they will receive an error.

ACH Users do not need to activate the feature - it will already be available to them.

TO SEND FUNDS

  • Open Tippy App

  • Tap on “Profile” in top left hand corner Select “Send Funds

  • Use the “Select Recipient” to select the funds’ Recipient

  • Enter dollar amount to be sent to recipient - cannot exceed current account balance

  • Confirm amount

  • Final screen will confirm amount sent and the recipient

TO SEND FUNDS TO BRANCH ACCOUNT

  • Open Tippy App

  • Tap on “Profile” in top left hand corner Select “Send Funds

  • Use the “Select Recipient” to select “Branch” as the funds recipient Enter dollar amount to be sent to Branch account - cannot exceed current account balance

  • Confirm amount

  • Final screen will confirm amount sent

Other Important Notes

  • Payroll reporting will be reflected when funds are sent - IE: if Maggie sent $20 to Megan the $20 would be listed under Megan in the Payroll Run report

  • Once a user enables transfers, their tips will not automatically go to their Branch accounts; they will be able to “Send Funds” to their Branch accounts at any time or at the end of each business day, their funds will be automatically transferred to their Branch account if a manual transfer does not occur

  • Users can see a review of tips that have been sent and received in the “Transactions” tab in the Tippy App

  • If a refund is processed on a tip that has already been sent to another staff member - the original recipient will be the one with the balance on their account

  • Integrated accounts can use the Send Funds feature - but those funds will not be reflected in any reporting in the point of sale
