Hello Terrific Tippy Family,

Happy Spring! As the warmer temperatures begin to settle in we wanted to touch upon the potentially sticky situation that is refunds. While not ideal - we do understand that mistakes can be made with tipping and weโ€™ve got a built in solution for you and your teams.

If a client is requesting a refund, or perhaps a tip was left twice (or any other applicable refund situation) any user with Manager or Owner permissions is able to sign into our Tippy Dashboard with their credentials - select โ€œTippingโ€ in the drop down menu on the left hand side of the page - and then โ€œTipsโ€. From there you can pull up the tips from any given date by using our โ€œDate Filterโ€ on the left hand side.

**If you are an integrated customer please refer to your point of saleโ€™s instructions for processing a refund. All refunds will need to be done via the point of sale to ensure reporting is accurate.

How does this affect my team?
Great question - depending on how your staff is set up is how refunds affect your teamโ€™s tip balance. All refunds will also be reflected on your Payroll Run Report.
โ€‹
โ€‹For ACH Users:
Once the refund is processed - the refund amount will be debited from any pending transfers the staff member may have, as long as the amount is equal to or greater than the refund amount.
โ€‹
โ€‹Example: Mary earned $200 in tips on Tuesday and has that balance in her Tippy account waiting to be deposited into their bank account the next business day. A $20 refund was processed from one of Maryโ€™s clients. Mary would then receive a $180 deposit into their bank account next business day. If the total amount of pending tips in a user's account is less than a refund - a balance will be added to their account which will be fulfilled by future tip transactions.
โ€‹
โ€‹For Branch Users:
Once a refund is processed - a balance of that amount will be placed on the userโ€™s Tippy account, which will then be fulfilled by future tip transactions. This is due to the โ€œinstantโ€ transfers of tips to userโ€™s Branch accounts.
โ€‹
โ€‹Example: Mary had a $20 refund processed from a previous day on her account. A -$20 balance will be applied to her Tippy account. Mary then earns a $10 tip and then a $15 tip - but notices only $5 is transferred to her Branch account. The $20 balance from the refund was fulfilled and instant transfers resumed.
โ€‹
Although refunds might not be fun for everyone - we try our best to make it as easy as possible so your team can go back to earning those โ€œPIG BUCKS!โ€
โ€‹
We strive to provide excellent customer service so if you need help finding a transaction or have a particularly large refund to process - Please contact Technical Support for assistance.
